1 killed, 3 hurt in Wilmington collapse, fire


A man was killed and three others, including a firefighter, were injured after a fire and building collapse in Wilmington.

Wilmington fire officials said the incident happened late Monday at a home on the 100 block of Bird Street.

A man, whose name was not immediately released, was found dead inside the residence.

Two women in the home were injured but survived. Their conditions were not available.

A firefighter also suffered a minor injury, according to the fire department.

There were reports of an explosion at the site, but authorities were still investigating early Tuesday. The cause of the blaze and collapse were also being investigated.
