1 dead, 1 wounded in N. Phila. shooting

One man is dead and a second is wounded following a shooting Wednesday afternoon in North Philadelphia's Fairhill section, police said.

Details are sketchy, but police said the gunfire erupted about 1 p.m. at American and Cambria Streets.

A man who had been twice in the back was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later,police said.

Another man, suffering four gunshot wounds in the arm and back, was also taken to Temple, where he was reported in stable condition, police said.

Police recovered two weapons.

A pedestrian who had been struck by a car at the scene under circumstances that are not yet clear was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital. That person's condition is not yet known.
