?2? Man stabbed for refusing haircut

64th Street near Chelwynde Avenue, Elmwood

A gun was pulled on a man and he was stabbed in front of his 6-year-old son in Southwest Philadelphia's Elmwood section Saturday morning, apparently for not being a barber, according to police.

Cops said the 29-year-old victim was in his house on 64th Street near Chelwynde Avenue giving his 6-year-old son a haircut shortly after 7:30 a.m. when a stranger came in through his front door and asked if he was a barber. The man replied that he was not and the other man left without incident before returning about five minutes later and asking for a haircut, police said.

When the victim told the man he wasn't a barber and asked him to leave, police said, the intruder pulled a black semiautomatic handgun from his pocket. The victim grabbed the man and struggled with him, at which point the intruder pulled out a small knife and stabbed him six times in the arms and chest, police said.

The victim was able to force the man outside, and police said the attacker dropped his gun at that point, then picked it up and fled west on Chelwynde Avenue in a dark gray SUV. The stabbed man was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and was listed in stable condition.

The attacker is described as a tall black man in his mid-20s with a light complexion who wore a black long-sleeve shirt and black track pants.

Tipsters are asked to call 215-686-TIPS (8477) or text an anonymous tip to PPD TIP (773847).

3 Man shot outside Center City club

7th and Arch streets

Police who stopped a speeding SUV in Center City early Sunday morning found a shooting victim inside, cops said.

About 2 a.m., officers had just left Police Headquarters at 8th and Race streets and were headed south on 8th when they saw a man wildly firing a gun into the air on Arch Street between 7th and 8th, cops said. The officers attempted to arrest the man, but he ran and was lost in a crowd coming out of a nightclub on the block.

Fifteen minutes after that, police said, cops were called to Appletree Street near 7th, just north of Arch, for a report of a person with a gun. Those officers saw a blue Dodge SUV fleeing a lot at 7th and Arch and stopped the vehicle. Inside the SUV, police said, the officers found a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the right hand. He was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital and listed in stable condition. A second victim, a 22-year-old man, suffered lacerations from broken glass from a shattered window of the SUV, police said.

Cops later determined that the two injured men and three others had left a nightclub on Arch Street just after 2 a.m. and had gotten into the SUV when two men they did not know approached. The two men started punching the man who was eventually shot. As the SUV sped away, the victims and witnesses heard two gunshots, police said, and bullets shattered the back window of the SUV, one hitting the man in the hand.
