Forget about rosaries and ovaries, get your hands off my checkbook

Adding insult to injury in the abortion debate

Today's Daily News contains an oped that puts an interesting new twist to the Gosnell saga.  You all remember Kermit the Butcher, right?  (sorry, alleged butcher, have to make the criminal defense bar happy)  The author makes this comment which takes Roe even further than Harry "The Choice" Blackmun ever anticipated:

"What will solve the [Gosnell] problem is lifting the ban on public funding for abortion and providing equitable health coverage for all"

So the solution is not only to let women terminate their pregnancies at will (because frankly, allowing abortions in the last trimester puts the lie to how we actually 'regulate' the procedure) but now we also have to pay for them?

I remember once going to a pro-life rally and hearing "choicers" screaming "keep your rosaries off my ovaries."

Okay ladies, how about this one:  "Get your fingers out of my Fendi."

Seriously, any suggestion that I should pay for something that, to me, represents a heinous crime is offensive and should be rejected out of hand by people who believe in 'choice,' as in, the 'choice' to be free from subsidizing evil.

On a happier note, there are people out there who recognize the true victims in this debacle, and are willing to pay out of pocket to bring them some dignity.

What a contrast in today's Daily News.
