Romney raises up to $1.5 million in Montco

POSTED: Wednesday, May 2, 2012, 8:50 AM

Republican Mitt Romney continued filling his campaign tank for the general election with two Montgomery County fundraisers Tuesday that organizers expected would net from $1 million to $1.5 million.

“That’s a pretty good take,” said power lawyer Charles Kopp, a longtime Republican fundraiser who was one of Romney’s earliest supporters in Pennsylvania. “We were very pleased with the results.”

The Romney campaign has a goal of getting $5 million from state donors. One event was at the posh 29,000-square-foot Byrn Mawr home of real estate developer Mitchell Morgan. A larger evening reception was held at the Philadelphia Country Club in Gladwyne.

Republican National Committeeman Bob Asher took the lead in setting up the events and hustling contributions, organizers said.  Among the other GOP heavy hitters involved: Pat Deon, chairman of the SEPTA board; Jim Shacklett of the National Label Co; Gary Erlbaum; Ira Lubert, the private-equity magnate, and Ron Naples, president of Quaker Chemical.

Sure, Romney is a bad guy. How could he collect so much money in donations? It's so bad. But Obama is a good guy. He doesn't collect any donations. Is he? Or isn't he? At least Romney's travel is covered by his campaign money. Obama is traveling on our dime.

While Obama is off honoring our troops, Romney is just attending fundraisers, because that is all he cares about. You never hear about Obama attending fundraisers because he is too busy saving the country from all the destruction brought on by Bush and the Republicans.

You people amaze me. Dems bad mouthing Repubs. Repubs badmouthing Dems. This guy is good and this guy is bad. No this guy is bad and my guy is good. There is no differnce between the 2 parties. The overall agenda as far as foreign policy, monetary policy and roll of government is exactly the same. Read "Tragedy and Hope" by Carroll Quigley. He was Bill Clinton's professor at Georgetown and specifically mentioned him in his 1st inaugural address. I, by the way, am an independent and do not back either party.
