34 johns snared in recent prostitution stings

Undercover vice cops in Philadelphia have arrested 34 men during the last two weeks and charged them with soliciting prostitutes, police announced today.

The men – who ranged in age from 23 to 71 years old and hailed from as far away as Pottstown – were nabbed in a series of stings throughout the city that used "undercover decoy operations," according to police.

Between Apr. 28 and May 2 the undercover police snared 27 men who were additionally charged with solicitation and related offenses. Investigators seized 19 cars and nearly $4,000 in cash from the johns, police said.

On May 8, eight more men were cited during an undercover operation near Kensington and Ontario Streets and another at an alleged house of prostitution at 5100 Wyalusing Avenue, police said.
