"Dear Nemesis" features over 120 multi-media works from throughout American artist Nicole Eisenman's career to date. A painter consistently drawn to figures and faces, Eisenman's canvases overflow with pathos and humor, tenderness and violence. An early focus on drawing, evident in murals and installations, evolved into large, narrative paintings clustered with bodies and heads. Often abstracted into planes of color, Eisenman's heads laugh, cry, kiss, and bend into the glow of cell phones.
"Ridykeulous" is a curatorial project organized by artists Nicole Eisrenman and A.L. Steiner. For "Readykeulous," they revisted and expanded their 2011 exhibit "Readykeulous: The Hurtful Healer," with a focus on emotionally-charged letters and correspondences. The resulting text-based and text-inspired works represent a diverse array of media, including paintings, video, sculptures and drawings.
