With the 2009 season set to kick off in a few hours, let's take a look at some pressing matters for area teams, noteworthy returning players, and some miscellaneous items mixed in with a few predictions:
Tim Sorber, Abington's head coach and a health and physical education teacher, regularly sees the 1989 Suburban One League Colonial Division football championship banner that hangs from the rafters of the school's gymnasium.
The PIAA District 1 Class AAAA boys' basketball championship game features a pair of guard-driven squads.
Plymouth Whitemarsh is spurred by the backcourt trio of Andre Mitchell, Xzavier Malone, and Jimmy Murray. Abington counters with a stellar one-two combo in Matt Penecale and Amir Hinton.
