Villanova Theatre


Each of the university theaters in the Philadelphia area offers a full season of plays with a wide range of content and styles from classics to modern drama to musicals. Recent seasons at Temple have included Twelfth Night, Arcadia, Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown and Suburbia. University of the Arts has done Lysistrata, Execution of Justice and Carousel. Recent seasons at Villanova have included Chicago, True West, and The Trojan Women.

The theater and university located on the Main Line, half an hour from Center City, has been recognized by many nominations and six Barrymore Awards.

Temple Theater Department and Villanova Theatre Department each began in the late 1950s by visionary English professors who saw the need for training in practical theater arts. The University of the Arts Theater Department is celebrating its 20th anniversary, having developed out of the Philadelphia School of Performing Arts.
