Batona Hiking Club of Philadelphia
Batona Hiking Club created the well known Batona Trail, which winds through 50 miles in the New Jersey Pine Barrens, and trail maintenance is part of the club's agenda. In addition to the Batona Trail, the group also maintains sections of the Horse Shoe Trail and the Appalachian Trail. This club always schedules assembly locations that are accessible by public transportation in Philadelphia, so that people without cars can go hiking. There are no official memberships or official meetings, just participation in the hikes. Hikers frequently stop at a country diner after a long hike, and the group organizes an annual dinner. A schedule of activities is published twice a year. Leader meeting are open to all.
