This coming weekend, crowds of people will be descending on the Jersey shore to celebrate Memorial Day Weekend and the start of the shore season.  After a long, bitter winter, this has probably been one of the most anticipated seasons in a while.  Are you packed and ready to go?  Are you daydreaming about spending time on the beach, playing in the sunshine? If the weather isn’t beach-appropriate all weekend long though, there is still plenty of family fun to be had down the shore while you are waiting for the sun to come back out and play.

If you are in Atlantic City this weekend and looking for a sprinkle of magic to brighten your day, “Joe Holiday’s Magic and Mayhem” will be at the Comedy Stop Café in the Tropicana Hotel Friday, May 23 through Saturday, May 26. Joe Holiday is a high energetic magician, performing fast-paced tricks for the entire family to enjoy.

The Atlantic City Aquarium will also be open May 23-26. Located at 800 North New Hampshire Avenue in Atlantic City, the aquarium is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day. Explore underwater marine life without getting wet.

Staying in Ocean City? Keep the rainy blues away with some indoor entertainment at the Moorlyn FamilyTheatre at 837 Moorlyn Terrace, on the boardwalk between 8th and 9th Streets. May 23 through 26 they will be showing movies and if you are in Ocean City later this summer, check back for their live entertainment as well.

When the kids start bugging you this weekend, take them to the Wildwood Insectarium at 5216 in Wildwood. Their exhibits are open for walk-in tours Monday through Sundays, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

In Margate, don’t miss your chance to visit Lucy the Elephant in Josephine Harron Park. From Friday, May 23 to Monday, May 26, take a tour of Lucy, a six-story elephant listed on the National Parks Registry of Historical Landmarks and constructed in 1881. Don’t forget to check out Jon Baker’s art exhibit that is currently on display there as well.

If the weather is not quite right for bathing suits and suntan lotion, but still perfect for outdoor events, then there are still plenty of fun activities to be had down the shore.  In Historic Smithville, there will be a Car Cruise on Friday, May 23. Vintage cars will be on display at 615 E. Moss Mill Rd. The car show will last until 5 p.m.

Do you love to participate in races, but it’s hard to get the kids involved? Starting at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 24 in Ocean City, the 2014 Standup 4 Seals Beach Adventure Race will have a kids’ fun run along with the paddleboard race and SEAL obstacle course. The whole family can join in. All activities will take place at 8th Street Beach, 8thand the Boardwalk.

Rain or shine, enjoy your Memorial Day Weekend.
