OCEAN CITY The Miss New Jersey competition is as much a part of Shore culture as sandcastles and salt water taffy. All 24 contestants' outfits will reflect this year's theme, "The Red Carpet on the Ocean City Boardwalk." The three-day pageant begins at 7 p.m. with a parade starting at 6th Street and the Boardwalk. www.ocnj.us

CAPE MAY Harborfest is a day-long street festival at the Nature Center of Cape May, 1600 Delaware Ave. Beginning at 10 a.m., browse artists' wares, grab a bite to eat , and unwind in the beer garden.
