Blues by the boats

CONNECTICUT Mystic Blues Festival 2014 is June 27-29 at Mystic Shipyard and benefits the Center for Hospice Care. Performers include Johnny Winter, the Franklin Brothers Band, the Sin Sisters, and David Foster & the Mohegan Sun Allstars.


Brass band at bayside

DELAWARE The Chesapeake Silver Cornet Brass Band, a British-style brass band composed of amateur and professional musicians from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware, performs at the Freeman Stage at Bayside in Selbyville at 7 pm June 26. Free.


Celebrating the arts

MARYLAND The Columbia Festival of the Arts continues through June 28 at Columbia Town Center. The celebration includes stoop storytelling, author Katia D. Ulysse, fiddlers MacMaster and Leahy, vocal band Home Free, and a performance of "Letters Home."


Little town that time forgot

MASSACHUSETTS Garrison Keillor brings "A Prairie Home Companion" to Tanglewood's Koussevitzky Music Shed on June 28. Performance begins at 5:45 p.m.


Celebrating N.J.

NEW JERSEY State Fair Meadowlands continues through July 6 in East Rutherford. Highlights include the Open-Air Circus with a human cannonball, freestyle motocross, lions and tigers, the pig race track, and fireworks July 3 and 4.

NEW YORK See world-class riders and horses participate in championship Hunter and Jumper competition at three shows - Lake Placid Horse Show June 24-29; I Love New York Horse Show July 1-6; and Adirondack Horse Show July 8-13.


County fair

OHIO The Marion County Fair, June 30-July 5, has rides, livestock shows, tractor pulls, demo derby; 4-H projects, more.


Mad music fun

PENNSYLVANIA Madsummer Meltdown 5 June 27-29 at the Schuylkill County Fairgrounds is a full-weekend music and camping festival, featuring more than 20 musical acts on three stages; late-night indoor jams; kids activities; light shows; more.


Fine art in the park

RHODE ISLAND Narragansett Fine Art Festival is June 28-29 at Veterans Memorial Park, 35 Ocean Rd., Narragansett. A hundred artists will exhibit fine art in various media.


Barbecue and wine

VIRGINIA Covington Cork and Pork Festival in the Shenandoah Valley is June 27-28. It features a Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned competition; wine tastings; juried arts/crafts vendors, food and music.
