Keep mealtime shipshape with non-skid tableware

Not everyone has to worry about dishes sliding off the table, but some folks do - and you know who you are. You are boating people (or you have alarmingly greasy surfaces at home). Ahoy, then, to the new Starboard Collection Carina tableware line, dining and serving pieces designed, the company slogan asserts, "to handle food in motion." The line of sleek, squarish, round-edged bowls, serving trays, and slightly concave plates are made of shatterproof recycled polypropylene plastic, with a grippy silicone base on the bottom of each piece. They are free of melamine, phthalates, BPA, and lead. Available in nautical shades of blue, red, and canvas, the pieces stack to conserve space. They are microwave-oven friendly and - should you be so indulgent - top-rack dishwasher safe. Makes a great gift for sailing buddies.

Starboard Carina 9-inch-square serving bowl is $36; set of four 6-inch-square soup/salad bowls or four 8.75-inch-square plates is $44; 21-by-14-inch serving tray is $59; and appetizer set with 14.75-by-4.5-inch tray and three 4.75-inch-square bowls is $40 at www.starboardcollection.com.
