Netflix for Dresses

Netflix for Dresses

Netflix for dresses, huh? Sounds like a novel concept, which is why I allowed two reps from RenttheRunway.com to stop by the newsroom yesterday to talk up the 3-year-old website founded by two Harvard business school graduates.

The way it works is: A customer rents a designer dress from the site at prices starting at $40. Two different sizes of the same dress arrive in the mail. For an additional $25, you can get a back-up style in case the first dress is completely wrong for your body. After the dress is worn, it goes back to RenttheRunway.com, which takes care of dry cleaning it.

Tempting, but if everyone knows you can't afford the Herve Leger you're wearing, what's the point? On the other hand, in the age of Facebook, RenttheRunway sounds like a great way to not keep popping up in the same little black dress.

Would you ever rent a dress?
