Philadelphia University's student fashion show

Colorful sportswear dominated Philadelphia University's annual student fashion show Sunday night at its new location in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center.

The end-of-year collections boasted beautiful ensembles styled from tissue-thin fabrics (a bit of chiffon here, a hint of tulle there) in pastel shades and primary colors.

Satiny tuxedo-style pants shined, while A-line dresses featured color-blocking and frayed edges, which gave the groupings a current look.

As part of the weekend-long celebration of all things Patrick Kelly - in honor of the Philadelphia Museum of Art's latest retrospective, "Patrick Kelly: Runway of Love" - six students presented pieces inspired by the designer's message of love and diversity. Kelly was honored posthumously Sunday night with the university's Legend of Design Award.

Jenna Hanson's collection was the night's most noteworthy, as it was made entirely from neoprene. (Talk about fashion-forward.) Hanson won the university's Fashion Design Faculty Award for Excellence in Design.
