Does he just want you for sex? If you have to ask...

Actions speak louder than words when it comes to figuring out whether a man wants you or just wants to have sex with you.

Q: I HAVE a guy friend and we're thinking about having sex. Before I do that, though, I'd really like to know how he feels about me. The trouble is, I don't know how to go about asking him. Do I have a right to ask whether he sees me as just a sex partner or has deeper feelings? How can I know before we do anything?

Steve: Asking him would be a waste of time. If he just wants you for sex, he would never admit it.

Actions speak louder than words. Does he respect your opinion, or is he pressuring you to do what he wants? If you told him you'd like to wait awhile before having sex, would he stick with you? That's how you find out how he feels about you.

Mia: My girl Patti Stanger, "The Millionaire Matchmaker," is absolutely right when she orders her clients not to have sex without an "exclusive, committed, monogamous relationship." I'll bet your mom told you the same thing.

My advice is to keep your panties on and work on getting to know whether you're even remotely in love before you take things to the next level.

Q: The recent engagement of BET "Being Mary Jane" star Gabrielle Union and NBA superstar Dwyane Wade makes me wonder about the longtime couple's marriage plans, given that Wade is the father of an infant born only this past November.

Union is 41 and Wade's just 31. Wade, who is divorced, also is the father of two young boys from a prior relationship. What do you think?

Mia: Ready-made families are challenging enough. Add in fame and all the media scrutiny, and the couple is going to have their hands full trying to make it work.

Gabby's going to be a stepmother not just to two sons but now a third. In addition, now there are not one but two different baby mothers to deal with.

Meanwhile, girlfriend's acting career finally has taken off in a big way, which means traveling and more interviews. Word is the baby was conceived when the couple was on a break from their relationship. I'm not sure what to make of that, but my advice to Union would be to proceed sloooowly. The path ahead is loaded with land mines.

Steve: The chances of this relationship working out long term are equal to the chances of the 6-foot-4 Wade blocking a shot by 7-footer Spencer Hawes.
