“Bench by the Road” Locations
The benches commemorate historic sites connected to the lives of enslaved and freed Africans.
Benches are also in two foreign locations: Paris, in honor of black military officer Louis Delgres; and Fort-de-France, Martinique, in honor of Aime Cesaire, a poet, anti-colonist, and mayor.
