Teen dance show taping at old ‘Bandstand' studio

THERE COULD BE no "Dance City" without "Bandstand," which is why Romeo King is shooting the pilot of his new teen-dance show at the old "Bandstand" location, the former WFIL studios at 46th and Market.

King, executive producer of "Dance City," says he wants to help teens focus energy on their talents, not on teenage pressures. The show tapes on July 28 and will be hosted by Mix 106.1 FM's Brian Soscia.

The potential program is the latest in a sudden resurgence of teen-dance shows.

First, Mike Nyce brought his '80s show "Dancin' on Air" back to Channel 17, where it airs at 10 Saturday mornings, and then "Party Rockers" started airing at 11 am. Saturdays on NBC Nonstop.

"Dallas" stars Patrick Duffy, Jesse Metcalfe and Josh Henderson will be at Parx casino in Bensalem on Aug. 10 to announce the winners of the annual Parx Casino Parkettes pin-up-girl contest. Duffy, who starred on the original series, and his cast mates on the new TNT version will weigh in on the top-20 finalists. The contestants will compete in the 360 nightclub starting about 11 p.m. The guys should turn up about 9.

Actor and South Philadelphia High graduate Peter Mark Richman will introduce the Philadelphia Orchestra on Friday as it performs the music of John Williams at the Mann Center. Richman appeared in the first season of "Lost in Space," for which Williams composed the score. Richman's son Lucas is guest-conducting the orchestra at the show celebrating Williams' 80th birthday. The orchestra will perform selections from "Jaws," "Star Wars, "E.T." and more from the composer's impressive catalog of film scores.

Get ready, kids. In its 12-year history, the Making Time indie-rock/electro party typically held at Voyeur has never thrown an all-ages event. Until Friday's Making Time Summertime Hyper-Rager featuring Sleigh Bells, who recently opened for the Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Wells Fargo Center, along with Phantogram and Twin Shadow.

DJs include Dave P., Sammy Slice, Mike Z., Dave Pak, the Rock T--s and Broadzilla. The outdoor affair takes over the Festival Pier starting at 5 p.m. Friday. Daily News sportswriter Stan Hochman guest-bartends from 6 to 8 Wednesday night at R2L, atop Two Liberty Place, to benefit the National Adoption Center, which helps special-needs kids find loving homes. The gig is part of R2L's Celebrity Bartending Series. On Aug. 8, the series will feature District Attorney Seth Williams bartending to raise money for the PSPCA's Pet Support Phashion Charity Affair and Humane Law Enforcement programs.

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation hosts an event at 7 Wednesday night at Marc Vetri's new Alla Spina (1410 Mount Vernon) to enlist support and participants in Team Lemon. The team will compete in the annual Lemon Run in Fairmount Park as well as in Sunday's Lemon Ride Bicycle Tour through Doylestown. Vetri has been very active in fundraising for Alex's through the annual Great Chefs Event.
