Harrison Ford, Liam Hemsworth in Philadelphia to film ‘Paranoia'

By the time you read this, "Paranoia" stars Harrison Ford and Liam Hemsworth should have arrived in town to shoot the corporate-espionage thriller.

"Hunger Games" actor Hemsworth is expected to bring his fiancée, Miley Cyrus, to town, and others have wondered whether Ford's wife,"Brothers and Sisters" actress Calista Flockhart, will accompany Ford, whose last area production was 1985's "Witness." Gary Oldman and Amber Heard are also part of the cast directed by "Legally Blonde" filmmaker Robert Luketic.

"Pound for Pound," a boxing drama to be directed by Ron Shelton, who also wrote and directed "Bull Durham," "White Men Can't Jump" and "Tin Cup," will begin preproduction and location scouting in January.

Producing is Leslie Grief, who spent a year in town when his company helmed "Teach" for A&E. The reality show followed actor Tony Danza as he taught English at Northeast High.

Grief told us Wednesday that he loved his experience in town and that Mayor Nutter and Greater Philadelphia Film Office chief Sharon Pinkenson were very supportive (the state's tax credits didn't hurt, either). "Pound for Pound," by the way, is based on the novel by F.X. Toole.

Grief recently wrapped a film he wrote and directed called "Sleeping Around," a sex comedy featuring comedy veteran Michael McKean, and Wendi McLendon-Covey of "Bridesmaids."

Developer Bart Blatstein was an executive producer of the film. He met Grief while the producer, Danza and other "Teach" crew members lived at Blatstein's the Piazza at Schmidts.

Seafresh Oysters owner Paul Appleby had a sense of humor about April's burglary of his truck on Rittenhouse Square because it surprised him that a box of Kusshi oysters were stolen from his truck.

But not this time. On Friday afternoon, Appleby says, 13 cases of oysters and 40 pounds of mussels were taken from his truck while he made a delivery at 17th and Locust streets. Appleby, whose company is based in West Chester, filed a police report Friday as a witness said they saw a "black man in his 20s with a hand truck" mooch the mollusks and walk off wheeling his booty, the vendor told us over the weekend.

The seafood was valued around $600, Appleby says, thankful these were Virginia oysters and not his more expensive Pacific oysters on the truck, which he says was locked. The oyster man says he will be upgrading his security.

To what? Maybe Brink's should start offering shellfish protection.

Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy sat down front Saturday at Citizens Bank Park as Roger Waters performed Pink Floyd's classic "The Wall," in a dazzling performance that featured former "SNL" bandleader G.E. Smith among his musical accompaniment.

Amber Rose brought her future mother-in-law to the QFest opening party Thursday night. The South Philly native model, appearing on behalf of Smirnoff, hung out with Katie Wimbush, mom of her rapper fiancé Wiz Khalifa.

Longtime Eagles kicker David Akers, now with the 49ers, returned to town over the weekend to serve as an honorary captain for the Union's match against Montreal Impact. Akers and family watched the action from the River Deck at PPL Park.

Bob Rigby, goalkeeper of the 1973 NASL Champion Philadelphia Atoms, will sign autographs at Pro League Authentics (137 S. 13th) from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday. Rigby was the first soccer player to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated and also appeared on ABC's "The Superstars," competing against Mike Schmidt, Lynn Swann, Lou Ferrigno and Robert Duvall in the mid-1970s.

Good luck to Rachel Ferguson, Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corp.'s media relations manager, who is leaving to become director of communications and public affairs for New York's WCBS-TV and WLNY-TV. Ferguson worked from 2005 to 2008 in the communications department at CBS3 and CW Philly.
