Villanova's football team still has a lot of work to do beginning with Saturday's playoff game against Holy Cross.

But last night, the Colonial Athletic Association honored the Wildcats (10-1) for what they've already achieved.

Junior wide receiver Matt Szczur was named both the Offensive Player of the Year and the Special Teams Player of the Year and head coach Andy Talley was named Coach of the Year.

Villanova, which won a share of the CAA title for the first time since 2001, had 15 all-conference honorees, including six first-team selections.

This season, Szczur was the only player in Division I college football (including FBS and FCS) to register touchdowns as a receiver, rusher, return man and quarterback. He was named to the first team as a wide receiver and as a kickoff returner.

Talley, in his 25th season at Villanova, garnered the Coach of the Year award for the first time since he led the 1997 team to an undefeated regular season.

In addition to Szczur, junior quarterback Chris Whitney, junior offensive lineman Ben Ijalana, senior defensive end Tim Kukucka, and junior linebacker Terence Thomas were first-team selections.

Senior wide receiver Brandyn Harvey, senior linebacker Osayi Osunde and senior defensive lineman Phil Matusz were named to the second team.
