Bears cut Phantoms' lead

HERSHEY, Pa. - The Hershey Bears beat the Phantoms, 3-1, last night at the Giant Center, leaving them clinging to a one-point lead in the AHL East.

The Phantoms are 41-25-3-3 for 88 points. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton has 87 points, and Albany has 86.

Starting goalie Scott Munroe had to leave the game in the first period because of an unspecified injury. He was replaced by Michael Teslak, who joined the Phantoms from Michigan Tech last week.

The Phantoms' Jonathan Matsumoto scored on a third-period power play.
