Chestnut Hill College has scheduled a news conference for today to announce that it is moving up to NCAA Division II and has joined the Central Athletic Collegiate Conference.
The school, which has 14 varsity sports, had been competing in Division III as a member of the North Eastern Athletic Conference.
Chestnut Hill will be a provisional member of Division II this year and would gain full membership for 2008-09, upon successful completion of the provisional year.
Chestnut Hill will play a CACC schedule in 2007-08. It is not eligible for postseason tournaments, although its athletes are eligible for individual awards. Philadelphia University, Holy Family and University of the Sciences also are members.
The school has teams in basketball, cross country, golf, soccer and tennis for men and women, and women's volleyball, women's lacrosse, softball and baseball. *
