Gunmen attempt a hit at South Jersey fast food restaurant

A 35-year-old South Jersey man was "very lucky" to have escaped with a gunshot wound to his left arm after being apparently targeted for assassination by two gunmen at a Lindenwold strip mall, police said.

The Sicklerville man emerged about 3:50 p.m. from a Crown Fried Chicken on the 200 block of E. Gibbsboro and climbed into his four-door Kia. As he pulled away from the strip mall, two masked men jumped out of a white Volvo and peppered the Kia with gunshots, said Jason Laughlin, spokesman for the Camden County Prosecutor's office.

The victim, who was struck once, drove himself to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

"It's unlikely that it was a random shooting," Laughlin said. "He's very lucky to have managed to get away with only getting hit once."
