A triple shooting in South Philadelphia Tuesday night left a toddler in critical condition and sent a child and a woman to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

The victims were outside on Bucknell Street near Wharton, police said, when the shooting took place. A 2-year-old girl was shot twice, in the hip/stomach and hand, and a 10-year-old boy was hit in the right calf, police said.

Both were taken to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The toddler was listed in critical condition and the boy was stable as of 9 p.m. A 59-year-old woman was shot in the left leg. She was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and listed in stable condition.

Police were searching for a suspect described as a heavy-set black man between 25 and 30 who is 6 feet tall and about 210 pounds. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans and a black fitted baseball cap, and was seen heading south on Bucknell Street. Police spokesman Lt. Ray Evers said he was beleived to be armed with an automatic weapon.

A second suspect was described as a medium-built black man in his early 20s with close-cropped hair. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and jeans, and Evers said he is believed to be armed with a revolver. He fled north on Bucknell Street.

Police said a fourth shooting victim, a 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the hand, turned up at Methodist Hospital after the shooting.

This shooting comes on the heels of another triple shooting several blocks away in South Philadelphia Sunday evening that left a 6-year-old girl injured. Police announced one arrest and issued a warrant for an second suspect in that shooting today.

Their teachers should be held accountable. If these good people just had school vouchers, this never would have happened.

Wow what does this have to do with this 2 year old innocent bi standard caught in the fire. We have no idea if she even lived there. She could of just been family or family friends. You guys are so small minded on here. How can you know if someone is crazy, or not? I know poor white trailer park trash in the who breed more ignorant children, and sell meth. So now what. Get a life and broaden your horizons. It's class issue and leave race out of it. Philadelphia's racism causes these statistics to rise. You guys don't even give these african americans here a chance.

The 'black' community should not be capitalized. They are the idiots that don't snitch! God forbid that their own get jailed. Please.

@Ben Fan wrong. There are people who care and will stand up for others. So don't pen point "black" people. MY "black" community produced scholars and property owners, and more than likely the bosses of your children. Get out of here you racist. If you commit a crime you will need to go to jail whatever color. Philadelphia is the most racist city I ever seen in my days of travel. Get over yourselves on all ends of the spectrum GOSH!!

Wrong it's just he people who respond positively are shunned out. And when they do stand up, they are shut down by the media. It's sad. The media rather highlight the negative in the low income community, versus the positive. There are alot of people who make it out educated and do great things, and actually care about other human beings.
