The morning after: Storms' effects still being felt

POSTED: Monday, August 3, 2009, 7:34 AM

Inquirer staff report:

The sun is shining this morning, but some roads remain closed and utility crews are working to restore power in areas still without electricity following yesterday’s damaging thunderstorms.

Among the roads closed by storm damage are Manor Road between Hagys Mill Road and River Road and Valley Green Road near Stenton Avenue, both in Whitemarsh Township.

Area utilities hope to have power restored to customers without power by later this morning.

The National Weather Service forecast says it will remain dry until at least Wednesday.

Unsustainable indeed. With the intensity of rain storms increasing due to (you guessed it) global warming, there is a great need to address run off planning in the entire region. Using streets as defacto culverts, parking regs that result in too much impervious surface etc, needs to be addressed.
