Carter has been completely invisible for two straight playoff years, but he is also only 25 and 40 goal scorers don't fall out of trees. In a perfect world we keep them all, but if longevity and salary are factors, Briere, 32, should be saying goodbye despite his brilliant playoff run if there are any takers.

Briere has a no trade clause. The night before game 6, Carter was partying in Avalon, NJ. The Flyers didn't show up at all for game 5 and showed up late in period 2 of game 6. Would things have been different if there was a major call on Keith for the high stick that cut Briere? As for "bandwagon jumpers" - there were many "fair weather fans" who gave up on them 2 days before they played the Rangers at the end of the regular season and again when they were down 0 - 3 against Boston. These are the same people who claim to be "dedicated fans". According to Lappy, in his words; "We will be a better team next season."

Servalli, I can understand Pronger at 37 being spent the last few games, but why was Richards so gassed? The Blackhawks seemed to have so much more energy and Richards looked so slow and tired on the ice. Not to mention the line he leads which was absolutely deplorable and probably cost us the cup.

agreed lulu, I hated on Hartnell all season (and for good reason) but he did show up in the playoffs.. when it mattered.

Jeff Carter needs to have his bad eye fixed so he can see the wide open net. Dedhed is wrong about Carle. He was solid all year. Right about everyone else except Hartnel

carter is our best scorer, i can't understand why people want to trade him? he played on two broken feet in the finals. TWO. sitting around doing nothing for two months didnt help either.

Man, how soon you people forget. Carter was the leading scorer on the team by far during the regular season. The ONLY person who contributed on a consistant basis. I'd also like to see any one of you do ANYTHING let alone play hockey on TWO BROKEN FEET. Morons! Hartnell was useless 99% of the time. How many breakaways did he get down the stretch and not even get a shot off? And until the playoffs, he sure seemed to avoid standing in front of the net. NEVER should have let Knuble go. Scoring a few goals at the end doesn't make up for it. Colburn is the other prime target to get rid of. He never uses his size and he either blindly dumps the puck or directly passes to the other team. Totally useless and cost us more than a few games. See Ya!

If you bothered to watch the game, carter did elevate the puck. He was also having his stick checked by the defensemen that didn't allow him to follow through and get it top shelf. The goalie got lucky. You want to comaplin, how about Gagne and Richards missing wide open nets several times, too. Maybe we should just trade them all away, right?

LuLu: Hartnell absolutely sucked this entire year.. Don't tell me during the 1st round that you weren't questioning why he was playing and Lieno wasn't. The guy took more senseless mindless ill timed penalties all year long and would (and still might be if not for a no trade) be gone except for a couple of good games in the finals. With your logic, even though Carter led the team in goals, he failed to produce in the finals and should be gone. The reverse... And Bankb29: As far as Carle goes.. He was (aside from Leighton) directly responsible for Kane's winning goal. Go back and you'll see he had the puck on his stick near the corner, failed to either pass or clear it, had it taken right away from him as he stood there like a deer in the headlights. I have no clue what anyone sees in this guy. He's a human turnover machine that doesn't hit a friggin' thing. And his most annoying habit is when he's on the ice for a goal against, he's almost always staring into the net with his back to the play. Again, he's totally clueless as to what's going on. HE SUCKS!!! Your standards for what a complete and 1st line D man should be are questionable. I stick by my assessment.

Carter needs to roll so we can fill the void that is our 3rd defensive pairing. develop leights in the offseason for the starting roll and improve backlund to be a solid backup.

@kodi, yeah hartnell sucked during the season but dont forget he has a no trade as well so he isnt going anywhere cause no one is willing to pick up his contract. just like briere. while carter is a great player, we have some great ones coming up so getting rid of someone with high value might help bolster the rest of the team (better Defense). And regards to Knuble. I would have loved to keep him, but tell me how with the cap issues we had this past year. We wouldn't have been able to sign Betts or Leino or Pronger. Till next year. GO FLYERS!!!

Bob from SW that is hilarious !! Most of the goals scored against us were in the five hole.
