Springsteen, who will be acoustic here Saturday.

Do celebrity endorsements affect your opinion of the candidates?
Yes
No

The Obama campaign has just announced that Bruce Springsteen will play a free - acoustic - set on the Parkway Saturday afternoon. The stated purpose is to assist voter registration and volunteer efforts, and, indeed, to get "preferred" tickets you have to go to an Obama campaign office and sign up to volunteer. General admission is available via the web.

And did we say an acoustic set? So no E Street Band. Bummer.

For extra credit, tell us who will provide McCain with his musical theme?

Here's excerpts from the Obama release:

"...Bruce Springsteen an acoustic set at a rally on the Ben Franklin Parkway...

...preferred tickets must be picked up at campaign offices.

The concert will take place on the Saturday before Pennsylvania’s voter registration deadline on Monday.

Benjamin Franklin Parkway between 20th and 22nd Streets.

Gates open at 2:00 and the program will begin at 3:30.

For access to the best viewing area, preferred tickets will be distributed to those who sign up to volunteer. This can be done beginning at 10:00 AM on Wednesday at the Obama-Biden campaign for change offices listed below.

General admission tickets can be secured at the following website: pa.barackobama.com/springsteen

Wow, a bunch of misinformed haters! Ok, anyone making $250,000.00 or more each year, raise your hand. You are the ONLY ones who will see your taxes raisedif Obama is elected. 95% of those making LESS than $250,000.00 each year will get a tax BREAK if Obama is elected!! If your salary is under $250,000.00 each year will see your taxes CUT...DECREASED...LOWERED...GO DOWN...REDUCED. Again, virtually EVERYONE making less than $250,000.00 per year will pay LESS in taxes each year if Obama is elected. Who will pay more under Obama? The filthy rich, crooked, scumbag oil companies who have been raping us Americans at the gas pumps. They will continue to make OBSCENE billions and trillions of dollars each year, but will have to pay a fair share back to the rest of us who can't afford to fill our tanks and pay our rent/mortgage. Anyone making less than $250,000.00 a year who votes for McCain is a sucker.

The same Democrat way that Kerry did ,when the music stopped, everybody left. Of course thousands will show up for a free concert, even Republican's admitted to Hannity that they went to the free ROCK THE VOTE concert when Kerry did it.

All these loudmouths supporting John Insane need to realize no mouth is loud enough to quiet the awesome power of the boss! Honestly, who loses to George W. Bush and runs for president again?? An insane man, that's who. (notice: Gore's found a different calling... winning awards)

The R's bussed 15,000 people in to hear the candidates. Barry is bringing in Springsteen to draw the crowd. Big difference, Einstein. I'll tell you this...Barry will win Philly...but not as handily as most will think...AND you have to be an absolute moron to vote for a candidate because of a pop music concert. Bruce won't win ONE vote...only aggravate the voter on the fence. Maybe Wil.i.am will show up...or the washed-up lead singer from Live. LOL.

It's great to see that the Republicans and name-callers sit in front of their computers to leave comments on here about Springsteen as Democrats canvass and get the votes out. Status quo has that way, I suppose.

I suppose feeble minded voters are swayed by rich limousine liberals telling them what's good for them, but they usually vote Democrat anyway because they want the government to run their lives for them, since they can't make it on their own.

tdoc: Denver was a convention site full of partying Dems, and Berlin was a picnic site full of curious Europeans with nothing to do. Get your facts straight. What record numbers? The voting from 18 to 24 year olds was still single digits.

eagle8, young people have voted in record numbers the last 2 elections. Obama spoke in front 75,000 in denver, he spoke in front of 200,000 in Germany! So your Linc crowd estimates might be a little off...You and your ilk should think before you post. your inaccuracies are staggering.

writerstephen: You are a typical lib! You assume Toby Keith is a conservative/right-wing/Republican because of his music. Can't a Democrat be a patriot? Toby is a Bill Clinton Democrat who is supporting Obama! Yet, I still like his music and him because he is a patriot! Libs always claim to be open-minded; yeah, sure.

To voiceofreason: My point is that neither JFK, Ronald Reagan nor Bill Clinton needed a warm-up act to get a big crowd. They were extremely popular and naturally drew a large audience based on what they had to say, not who performed for them. The Boss is just insurance for the tv cameras. Get Obama into the Linc without a music group and the place would be 80% empty. The same for McCain. Besides all the young people in the world showing up doesn't mean squat unless they vote, and they don't!

You guys are hysterical (in a tragic sense)...like Obama needs help to draw a big crowd? Your either joking or have been in a coma for the last year. NO ONE has sold out more concerts in philly than springsteen, so i'd hardly call that a nobody, a has been, or compare him to tony danza. Didnt he need Mile High stadium to accomadate the convention crowd? I was in denver too, and thousands were turned away from the "sold out" event. You repubs are the most bitter, cheap shot, lying, war mongering hypocrites on the planet. You ding bats would vote for Bush again, if you could.

Typical hysteria from the fading repubs on this site, who hold so dear their Second Amendment rights, but have no tolerance for the First Amendment. What really makes you nuts is when someone calls you on how much you people have screwed up our country. Tell ya what, we'll take Bruce singing for Obama, and you can go light a candle at your Karl Rove shrine, OK? You swiftboating cowards. You gave us George W Bush, so shut the hell up.

doo-dah, these two weren't born rich or privileged, ala mccain. Both Springsteen and Obama worked their way up. Obama only got into real money a couple of years ago with book residuals he used to pay off college loans. What, you got something against the American dream? Or, like repubs, believe you must be born rich to count?

When will these democrats learn that celebrities that come out for them is the kiss of death. The only exception was Clinton. Doesn't Springsteen realize (along with Streisand and all the other blame America firsters and haters of our military) that doing this helps McCain/Palin? It makes me glad because these idiots only help the ones they don't want elected. I love Bruce's music (early) but hate his politics. As the late, great Fred Gwynne said, "actors (celebrities) should NOT get on a soapbox". It backfires more often than not.
