This post has been updated.

Police swerved to avoid hitting a car that made a U-turn in front of their squad car on Buist Avenue near Massey Street in Elmwood Friday night and instead ran into a building on the corner.

The officer who was riding in the passenger seat of the 12th District squad car may have a broken right arm and was complaining of neck pain, said Officer Tanya Little, a police spokeswoman.

The officer who was driving the car suffered minor injuries and bruises. Both were taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

The accident happened around 7:40 p.m. and the driver who turned in front of the squad car was held at the scene.

No civilians were injured, and the accident is under investigation, Little said.

No arrests were made as of 8:30 p.m.

Cops are by far thee worst drivers. How fast are you going to hit a building? You see cops all of the time on the phone, texting etc... When driving a vehicle that has lights & sirens on it, you may want to have it under control and driving at a safe speed.
