The Phillies just added a little pitching help.

They have signed righthander Rudy Seanez to a major-league contract, a baseball source confirmed today. Seanez, 39, went 6-3 with a 3.79 ERA and one save in a career-high 73 appearances last season for the Los Angeles Dodgers. In his 16-year career, he is 36-26 with a 4.15 ERA.

The Dodgers released Seanez last week after a 7.71 ERA in spring training. He had signed a non-guaranteed contract with the Dodgers earlier this year.

Seanez is expected to be in uniform for tomorrow's game against the Nationals.

Who got the boot to make room for him? If it is Helms, then who gets the boot when Lidge is ready?

Are there any relievers available that were born in the 80s? I'd even settle for the late 70s.

Great. Maybe the Phils will get rid of Madson now. All he does is give up bombs! Besides his rookie year, he has done nothing but give late inning moon shots! They need to get rid of him and his boy Myers. He pitches well, then he gets flustered then blows up. Bad seed in the clubhouse too. Let the big 3 infielders take over the team. Myers hanging around with his attitude providing "veteran leadership" is not good.

Yes it is a bad pick up because you have a 39 or 40 years old closer that arm is know good

The stats above are pretty good. Been around, worth a look. Why's your buddy with the "loser" comment still hanging around like a bad smell, JM? I was a hoping a loss like yesterday would have scared him off. Somebody still needs a hug.

Totally agree about Madson. Guy is riding off his first year and has pretty much gotten worse every year since.
