John McCain just wrapped up a campaign appearance at the Down Home Diner in the Reading Terminal Market, where he and wife Cindy had lunch with seven women from the region and talked about the economy. Barack Obama supporters rallied just feet away in the market, shouting throughout much of the meal.

But Diner Co-Owner Jack McDavid said he was happy to host the GOP presidential candidate.

"He asked to come here," said McDavid, a registered Democrat who voted for Sen. Hillary Clinton in the primary. "I trust John McCain. I don't agree with all of his policies, but I trust him. I'm not brave enough to take a chance on someone who has no track record."

Even through the McCain table ordered some Diner food -- like pie and burgers -- McCain specially asked for a doggie bag.

"He made a special request for two Rick's cheesesteaks to go," McDavid said. "With hot peppers."

Nope. She ate if off your plate before some low class Obama supporter could steal it. Vote McCain '08.

I wonder how Cindy the drug abuser liked slumming it with regular people. Todd and Sarah Palin for King and Queen of Soviet Alaska.

What is a "there steak"? Is it different from a "here steak", or maybe an "everywhere steak"??

LISAH, first off, I'll throw stones all I want, Republicans have made a profession out of it. Secondly, I can tell you one thing, I never committed a felony drug crime by using the names of my co-workers and direct reports to steal drug prescriptions from my own non-profit. Your sound delusional and confused.

What longshanks didn't tell us was that he was actually there...he had to bus the table after John and Cindy ate. Hey Shanks...did they tip ya? Or did those nasty old Republicans just tell you not to smoke in bed. Hey gang...have you noticed that the further the Messiah falls behind in the polls, the nastier Shanks gets? Obama falls any further behind, and they may have to shrink-wrap him to a bridge abutment.

Nicher is severely disturbed. Typical comment from an elitist right-winger, making fun of hard working people. Thing is, I bet I make far more money than you do. Also, just a side note. A McBush/McPalin win would actually provide me with more financial benefits, however, I can't subscribe to the hate, negativity, and arrogance of a party filled with people like yourself. So far Palin hasn't done anything but lie through her teeth. The lady can't raise her own kids according to her own standards but everyone else is supposed to subscribe to her agenda? And she's going to step in when McGoo falls over? I think not.

It's idiots like longshanks that make the election commentaries interesting. Too bad he can't express his views without insulting everyone, including his own intelligence!

To illustrate Pete H's very point, his first comment is an insult. I think that says it all. A real genius indeed.

longshanks and his ilk are spewing invective because they are scared. They hang out on sites like Huffington Post and parrot and one up each other with the anti-Republican rhetoric and then come to a site like this where there is DIVERSITY of opinion and forget to act civilized.

Being from frankford and living in arizona, you can believe that McCain does not hang out with the common people here and has no idea what is a real "PHILLY CHEESESTEAK".

Go McCain
Go McCain/Palin Ultimately, Obama can keep the change!!! The only experience Obama has is running for office. Obama spent most of his second term as a state senator running for the US Senate. After 144 days as a US Senator he decides to run for president. When Obama is defeated in November it will show that as socialist you can get elected by the government dependant south side of Chicago and southern Illinois but when it comes to the national stage this type of candidate no matter how neatly packaged will get trounced every time.

gomcain, did you know that your boy has not set foot in the senate this year, hasn't voted on a single item? Guess not. He didn't even come off the trail to vote against the GI BIll that he didn't like. Didn't have the guts to show the vets he voted against them again. Yet, when bush praised him for its passage, he just stood there and smiled. mccain is a liar and a fraud. So what does that make supporters like you?

Good job everyone. Keep fighting a culture war on comment forums while our country goes further into debt and respected less abroad.
