Philadelphia police have in custody a man suspected of beating and robbing a blind man in daylight on a Germantown street last month - an act caught on video surveillance.
Northwest Detectives were holding Mustafa Guyton, 29, of the 300 block of West Logan Street, this morning in connection with the Oct. 2 attack at Seymour Street and Wayne Avenue.
The surveillance video showed a man knocking the 33-year-old blind victim down in the street, then punching and kicking the victim as he lay defenseless. The attack happened around noon in front of several witnesses, who did not stop to help. One man can be seen looking at the attack, but walking on. Two other men stood on a corner but did nothing to help.
The video was circulated among media. Police received tips that the suspect appeared to be Guyton, who has a long criminal history. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
