Lori Delgado resigns from NBC10

POSTED: Tuesday, October 7, 2008, 2:21 PM

Which local TV newsroom soap opera has more drama?
NBC10 with Delgado and DeMentri
CBS3 with Lane and Mendte
Neither. I'm sick of the drama.

This post has been updated (5:45 p.m.):

NBC10 has confirmed the resignation of anchor Lori Delgado, who's been at the center of a bizarre series of events at the station this summer involving former anchor Vince DeMentri.

Delgado, a New Yorker whose husband is a New York lawyer, joined the station in January 2005.

Delgado, who turned 29 two weeks ago, was on a previously scheduled week of vacation last week.

NBC had been investigating alleged incidents at the station. In one, Delgado's personal property (a hair dryer, curling iron and handbag) was moved from her desk drawer to another spot under her desk. In another, a deep scratch was found on her Lexus, parked in the NBC10 lot in Bala Cynwyd. DeMentri, 44, had been questioned by NBC management. He was fired in August.

On Sept. 16, NBC10, Delgado and an NBC security official identified as Don were named in a praecipe filed by DeMentri attorney Paul Rosen in Philadelphia Common Pleas Court -- basically, a precursor to a lawsuit. The praecipe simply listed "libel, slander and misrepresentation" under the cause. No allegations were listed.

The station's news director, Chris Blackman, today issued this memo: "I wanted to let you let you know that Lori Delgado has resigned from NBC10 to spend more time with her family. We thank Lori for her contributions to the station and wish her well."

I remember when I used to watch the news to find out what was going on in the world. Now I wonder why in the world I would want to.

This is proof positive that it is not a good idea to have an affair with a co-worker. If the realationship goes sour, there tends to always be someone who tries to be spite and cause problems from that day forward. Dating outside the work place is the best thing to do.

How can you not love this stuff. On a slow newsday, these stations can just make their own news!

It's funny nowaynohownobama, you mention that the loss of Lori is a blow to the hispanics in this town. How about Vince and the Italians? Italian-Americans far outnumber Hispanics in the area and have for 100-years. Best I can figure, Vince was their only representative. (regardless of how you may feel about him) But that's okay, because it's acceptable in our society to disparage Italian-Americans. Bada-Bing! Hippocrits.

The morning team needs a shake-up The weather and traffic guys are a plus but Terry, God Bless him is a solid reporter in an ill fitting anchor desk role. Lori just didn't work out. They need a couple of fresh faces like moving Henley to anchor with LuAnn Cahn and Michelle Grossman as weather person. Either move the traffic guy, John Ogden to special reporter or keep him where he is.

with all due respect: that woman is dumb as a post. i could never believe the inane comments she made in response to a story or another newsperson's report. left me yelling at the tv. don't need that kind of shock to my senses first thing in the morn.

Frankly, I haven't missed Vince DeMentri and didn't even realize he had been gone from channel 10 until I read this article. On the other hand my husband and I do miss Lori Delgado. We both are avid NBC10 viewrs and big fans of Lori. She made the am news fun and I thiught she had a great repor w/ Terry Ruggles. They were like the Channel 10 comdey team....too bad she turned out to be a little wacky when if comes to her hair products!!!!
