Jimmy Rollins is a stand-up guy. He proved it again Tuesday afternoon, when a ballsy high-school student knocked on the door of his South Jersey mansion to ask the Phillies shortstop if he would place a call to Wired 96.5.

The radio station is giving away a pair of Eagles/Giants tickets to the listener who can get the biggest celebrity to phone in on their behalf.

John Buto, 17, a senior at Kingsway Regional High, in Woolwich, Gloucester County, knocked on Rollins' door after school Tuesday along with a few friends and politely explained the contest to Rollins. To Buto's surprise, J-Roll invited the gang into his home and called Wired host Kannon's show.

Buto says Rollins couldn't have been nicer and spent about 15 minutes with the group as the call-in line was busy. Buto says he's not worried about another listener getting a bigger VIP because "I don't know who's bigger than the shortstop of the World Series champion Phillies." If he does win, Buto plans to take his buddy Steve Borkowski, with whom he hatched the plan to ask Rollins.

Patti LaBelle called in Thursday night to Chris's show after an employee in her doctor's office asked her to call in and this morning Harry Kalas called the Chio show on behalf of a fan who looked him up in the phone book and Bill Cosby called in and cracked a few jokes on behalf of a fan who somehow tracked him down.

The contest is open until 9 a.m. tomorrow, when the Chio in the Morning show will decide who the most famous celebrity was and award the tickets. Have your VIP friends call 215-263- 9650 or 856-541-9650.

Yaaaa... way to hold it down for Kingsway! Jimmy Rollins was also at a golf tournament at Town & Country Golf Links in Woodstown, NJ. He is one of the nicest professional sports players I have met, including BDawk. Can't say that for McNabb though, and i'm a McNabb supporter, but he shrugged us off when the cameras weren't on. But I still love the guy!

J Roll rocks. I was a bit surprised at the use of a testicle-related adjective in describing the teenager. That's ballsy.

Curse of Billy Penn
Let me get this straight...Harry Kalas is listed in the phone book? WTF??? And he's not a bigger celebrity than Jimmy? Not only is he a member of the Hall of Fame (and the greatest baseball announcer of all time IMO)...but he is also the voice of NFL films...the man is a legend...THE legend of Philadelphia sports! I love me some Jimmy...but Harry has to be bigger.

King: thats hilarious. I would tell you to try and post them online if you still had them because I bet they are funny. Hopefully you got some good shots in regarding the rain and the clipboard and going for 2. Freddie: another great post about Cosby. Update: I have found his address but not his phone number yet.

Yet another reason that this team of Phillies is going to have a home here forever. Seriously, all of them seem to be great people who are great to their fans. And oh yeah, they're world champs.
