Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins
This close to election day, voters can never tell who is calling on the phone. Maybe it's Gov. Rendell or U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton or Mayor Nutter, urging Philadelphians to get out and vote. But Jimmy Rollins? The Phillies shortstop has recorded a robo-call with the attention-grabbing intro: "Hi, this is Jimmy Rollins of the World Championship Philadelphia Phillies."
Rollins goes on to say he's calling for U.S. Sen. Barack Obama and invites everyone on the other end of the line to a Monday evening rally in South Philly's Marconi Plaza. U.S. Sen. Joe Biden and his wife are scheduled to attend. The robo-call ends with a notice that it was paid for by the Pennsylvania Democratic Party.

SCOOTER, WORST CALL EVER! I think Scooter is Jose Reyes. 2008 No way Jose!
I'm an Independent living in Bucks County. Over the past 4 weeks, I have had 3 different Obama supporters come to my house. Nothing from McCain's people, not even a phone call! If Obama as President is even half as effective as he runs his campaign, I have no doubt America will rebound dmostically and internationally. His campaign is a well oiled machine! Obama/Biden '08!

Denwa & guyguy4 - really?? That's all you got? Why do repubs always resort to nastiness and name calling? I could say a bunch of nasty things about McCain/Palin but Democrats are classy, well-educated, smart and intelligent people just like Obama who chose to take the high road and who chose to turn this wonderful country around.
bro5 - coal is used to generate the electricity your computer is using right now. It may be dirty; but, there is a reason people still mine it.
Heatherc - sounds like you and your hubby are the nutjobs. Did the last 8 years not teach you anything? Maybe you make over $250k which is why you're whining.
Bro5 - where do you get your electricity from? Whose pulling Obama's strings? Rev Wright? Bill Ayers?
th - how about Obama's own words?
"So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it's just that it will bankrupt them because they're going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that's being emitted" and "under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket"
So Obama supports "clean coal" but to implement it under his plan the industry will be bankrupted. That does not sound like support.
Is that the change we need? Higher electric rates? Bankrupted coal industry?
PhillyIam - you do not understand the concept of a $5K tax credit for insurance. If you have a plan that costs your employer $12K a year (which is high) and are in the 33% tax bracket (again high and I'm using it because it produces a round number), McCain's plan will tax you on the $12K causing you a tax liability of $4K. Then you get the $5K tax credit and you are left with a gain of $1K, which you can put into a flexible spending account to pay other uncovered medical costs. That's better than forcing an employer to provide coverage. Who do you think will pay for that coverage? You will. You will get lower pay or higher prices - either way YOU pay. The $5K tax credit can be used for you to purchase your own healthcare if your employer does not provide it. I think both plans suck but McCain's gives you the choice. Obama's lets your employer decide to pay a penalty and push you into the national plan. No choice for you.
Will there be any "white" Phillies calling too?
commissioner_gordon you win an internet.
Well since J-Roll is apparently okay with his boy taxing him out his anus, I don't ever want to hear him holding out in the future because he doesn't make enough. Listen, I love J-Roll and the Phils and this is not the time to bust their chops, but these elitists are so hypocritical. "Give more from the wealthy to the poor - they need it". Then next year, he will hold out to get a raise from 20 million to 40 million that is ultimately paid for by Joe Six Pack in the form of increased tickets prices, concessions and cable bills so that he can buy a third Bentley. Doesn't anyone get it??

Wednesday morning you will see TV footage from Obama’s coronation event in Chicago’s Grant Park showing hysterical, weeping, cavorting, fighting, swearing Obama Kool-Aid kids who are angry and confused that The Marxist One and his merry band of America-haters, terrorists, racists and felons lost the election.
Beginning Wednesday, when Americans talk about colossal failures they will mention the movies Ishtar and Heaven's Gate -- and they will mention Obama.
Obama is bad, bad, bad news for America

Taxpayer, you cite American Solutions in your post (first tip-off was "American blahblahblah" in the name)...it's General Chairman is Newt Gingrich. How about trying to cite a non-Republican, non-partial source in your quote-unquote facts there. I see Newt involved and I have no need to follow up on anything you say, it's already spun out of control. Keep follwing the spin like a dryer, you moron.
Dave Dial, you are either a liar or a dupe for the Clinton-Kerry-Alexrod-Ayres-Rezko-Wright- line of attack. Obama has actually taken no heat from the left because he supports "no domestic energy production" and wants to invest more in failed research for his supporters at the expense of others. From American Solutions.com: ||"Obama-Biden energy plan: Restrict the developement of domestic oil produstion claiming that doing so will not make energy available for years yet spend taxpayer dollars on unproven alternative energy. Carbon capture and storage technologies hold enormous potential yet are unproven. We will reduce our greenhouse gas emissions as we allow China and other nations to pollute the world, and drill for oil.
to power our economy with domestically produced and secure energy. People, let's not let the politics of personal destruction win this time. Let's show the Obama-Biden-Ayres-Wright-Rezko-Farrakahn-Acorn style of dirty politics don't work and deny Senator Obama to chance to create change from your tax dollars. We need someone who is going to help create jobs and help America back on the right track. If you like the way things are going the last 8 years, vote McCain. If you prefer the energy shortages and inflation of the Carter Years vote for Obama.

joinsf, you are either a liar or a dupe for the Bush-McCain-Rove line of attack. Obama has actually taken heat from the left because he supports "clean coal" and wants to invest more in that technology and build more plants.

People, let's not let the politics of destruction win this time. Let's show the Rove-Bush-McCain style of dirty politics don't work and elect Senator Obama to bring a real change to America. We need someone who is going to help create jobs and help America back on the right track. If you like the way things are going the last 8 years, vote McCain. He's just like Bush.
If you want to bring the economy back to help the working and middle class, vote Obama.
First they bash the McCain campaign for robo-calling, then Obama's campaign does the same thing. My husband and I voted early and we voted third-party, so those two nutjobs who want to be our next president can go ahead and waste money on it all they want.
Joinsf...you're a coal miner's daughter? So what! I'm a coal miner's grandson. We live in Ph-ila-delphia...there are NO coal mines here.
Who in the world is using coal? No homes or businesses I know of.
Ronnie Raygun started globalization so coal sure ain't used for steel anymore! Whoever the 'coal industry' may be-- how does it impact America's economy? You prefer to spend BILLIONS every month on Iraq w/ McBush, right...while our schools, roadways, jobs, healthcare system, banks, real estate and retirement are all in ruins? You're obviously nuts. Don't peek behind the curtain joinsf -- but guess what - Presidents are figureheads and when it comes to McPain and Bush --the same puppeteers pull the strings. VOTE Obama - or you'll be working those coalmines for a living yourself, sister, at the rate we're at with the McBush administration.
Chase Utley was actually the first choice to robo for Barack but they wanted someone who could endorse without using the f bomb.
scooter - worst call ever?
John McCain wants to give a $5,000 medical benefit only to people that can afford healthcare and then he will tax them on that free money. Jinsf should ask McCain why he would do that? Pleas etell me how McCain is going to help this economy, please.
this assures a win for John McCain
Barry Obama. Barry Effin Obama. I would like to see TV commercial version...where Rollins asks people to vote for Obama...then points both fingers to the sky...
If I get another robo call I will become ill.
Meanwhile, as a coal miner's daughter, I am hysterical to see that my own paper has known for months that Barack Obama has a scheme to intentionally bankrupt our coal industry all over the country. This is unbelievable. Someone needs to ask him some very tough questions. He will destroy the American economy.
