Attytood reports:

Have any other Philadelphians seen a brand new anti-Obama attack ad that seems to have been literally dropped on Pennsylvania in the very final hours of the campaign? I saw it late last night on ESPN as I was falling asleep (like any true 49-year-old guy!) and it just aired again on the 10 a.m. rerun of "The Daily Show."

It's man-on-the-street type interviews with young voters in an urban, Philly-looking, setting. "Can you tell us your favorite Obama policy?," an off-screen narrator asks a couple of befuddled young voters, while a third young adult babbles something about "hope and vision." Then words are stamped on the screen: "You don't know Bama"...at least that what it looked like, I didn't see an "O" -- weird.

It says the ad is paid for by Morgan Warstler.

This 2000 article from Los Angeles magazine identifies him as a young "junk mail mogul":

This high-school-with-money model became the norm at Web shops like LOADtv, cofounded by a 29-year-old junk-mail mogul named Morgan Warstler. Flush with venture capital, Warstler rented an old bank building on the Sunset Strip and filled it with staff from his native Canton, Ohio. Former and current employees say they logged 75-hour workweeks producing Web programming targeted at what current CEO Jack Kennedy calls "low-hanging fruit" -- Gen Y computer nerds and skate punks.

I can't find any news about this ad, and oddly I couldn't find it on YouTube. Can anyone help with this one?

UPDATE: A March 2007 Vanity Fair article identified Warstler as "a thirtysomething entrepreneur who dabbles as a conservative operative" and says he's a close friend of Andrew Breitbart, longtime contributor to the Drudge Report.

UPDATE II: Hey, crowdsourcing works -- an alert reader helped track the ad down to its source.

You can watch it here.

It's a product of something that the above-mentioned Warstler is involved in called Saysme.tv, and here is a description of the venture:

Beginning with the highly polarized 2008 elections, SaysMe.tv allows you to participate in politics in a brand new way. For the first time ever, you will be able to use your campaign dollars to broadcast the messages you care about on TV. This begins in the form of sponsoring ads with your name at the end and will quickly grow into ways for you to create increasingly personalized messages by adding your own text, graphics and voice to commercials.

So....it seems to be something of a profit deal, when you go to the Web site you can see there are pro-Obama ads as well, and ads on other issues and candidates. As a business scheme, it may be a clever way for enthusiatic partisans to bypass the whole federal campaign finance system, by simply buying political commercials and airing them on local cable channels without coordinating with campaigns or affecting the spending limit.

It's just coincidence that the only two times I've seen their work are anti-Obama ads airing on Primary Day, right?

"The ad rightly characterizes the Messiah supporters as young, befuddled, easily-swayed, empty-headed dolts." Like Tom Rooney and Sam Nunn? You're a fool, atkinson.

It's so funny how supposedly only Hillary makes the "attack ads." Excuse me, but I've seen plenty of attack ads against Hillary from the Obama camp. When are people going to reject the Obama cult and think for themselves? There are attack ads on BOTH SIDES, regardless of how much Obama's people chant HOPE and CHANGE.

yes ...and there is another ad .. with obama admitting smoking CRack in his youth.... if hillary did, she would be gone a long time ago.... Hillary fired her campaign manager in NHampshire for talking about it.... though ..the republicans are going to grind him ito soup meat, if he wins ... a vote for barack is a vote for mccain.

Obama had to fight back against Hillary's attacks. Don't kid yourself, it is Hillary's supporters that aren't seeing clearly. Now she's mixing Middle East policy with Nuclear attacks in one sentence (which should never happen openly). She's rattling sabers like a Republican, Voters would pick McCain for that.

Ran into a Hillary stumper yesterday on the street. She kept calling Obama "Hopey." Like Hillary, this women was an arrogant member of the "Shoulder pad" feminist lot. She intimated that white, male, educated Obama supporters were misogynist (a logic that I guess makes her a racist). Her vitriol against Obama was disgusting. I don't think these folks are going to help the party win in the good chance Obama wins the nomination. So, the Clinton's will have been personally responsible for 12 years (or more) or repub control (after their failure to support Gore).

Seems appropriate. A junk ad by a junk mail guy. Just one of the many big operators terrified that a decent idealistic young candidate may rain on their greedy parades. No such concern with Hillary, owned in toto by lobbyists, corporations and special interests. Pennsylvanians have a chance to make history by supporting the first true candidate of the people to come along since Kennedy. The hate-spewed rhetoric and ads from the Clinton camp have certainly eliminated her from any serious consideration by any voter of integrity who recognizes her presidency would be a mere extension of the corporate dictatorship currently controlling the country. For the McCain camp, his opponent must be Hillary. Obama wins by double-digits.

Of all the comments here, not ONE person has responded to the claims that Obama has no clear-cut policy on ANYTHING, except that he wants to abandon Iraq immediately, and let them fend for themselves. Tell me what you love about Obama, people! (Hope and Change are not acceptable answers). Every election year, politicians go on and on about how they are going to change everything...why should we believe that this guy is any different? He has been in the US Senate for LESS THAN THREE YEARS!!! He doesn't take a stand on any issue so he can just sit on the fence, and wait to see which positions are best for him. He hardly collaborates with any Republicans in Congress, yet he says he'll get people to work together?? Not to mention he is the most liberal member of Congress

RG, how is BaraqHillary going to give us all health care, get Osama and defeat Al Qaeda by bringing the troops home, lower gas prices by increasing taxes on oil companies and continuing to prevent us from getting our own oil out of Alaska, improve education by not testing kids or holding teachers accountable (since they give them lots of campaign contributions), and increase jobs by raising taxes on businesses?

Awful points Fuzzy. He's collaborated with multiple Republicans in Congress, most notablly Lugar. He also has a similiar history of bipartisanship in the IL Senate. The "most liberal" title is given by a conservative mag, and they have a history of giving it to whichever Democratic Congressman is running (Gore and Kerry both won, I believe). As for Obama's stances, check his website and procon.org, don't be lazy. Now, answer why do you support Clinton/McCain, what policies of theirs do you like?

I didn't see the ad, but I am sure Hillary is behind it trying to get people to vote for her. I went to vote today, me and alot of people and we all voted for Obama, some of my friends were for Hillary, but they changed their minds at the poll, people are tired of her lies and how she is running this campaign. No Billary for me!

Republicans want Hillary to win because everyone would vote against her, giving McCain a chance. If Obama wins, he will win the election, but the Republicans will have set a precedent for having someone not born on American soil run for the office of the President. Arnold 2012.

Well, Obama's detailed his healthcare proposal, mandating coverage for children but not adults. There are certainly costs associated, but it would help to start giving preventative care to thsoe who can't afford it. As for gettign Osama, how'd Bush do on that? Still making tapes, and McCain said he'd follow him to the gates of hell, yet wants to stay in Iraq where he ISNT at a cost of a few trillion. Thats why Fallonn called Afghan the forgotten war and why Gates goes to NATO to beg for more troops, because ours are babysitting civil strife in Iraq. And gosh forbid if we actually fund our school system, instead of just installing tests that don't truly teach anything. As for taxing business, not really for it, but its time for better regulation of lending etc, and having shareholders vote on CEO comp. Nope, lets spend our taxes (and run up debt) by having bases in 177 countries, spend a tril on Iraq, build the most expensive embassy ever there (can you say long term presence), and fund Israel and Saudi Arabia's military. I'll also note you didn't bother to answer my questions, so you're voting for either Hillary's "expereince" on McCain's "straight talk", but "hope and change" just sounds silly.

Fuzzy, you see on teh interwebs there's all sorts of things that come on "web pages" which have "information" that people can "read." If you access the Barack Obama (or Hillary Clinton or John McCain) "website" you can find their positions on dozens of "issues" - but you won't because then you won't be able to spout off your ridiculous, tired, partisan, political claptrap as if it had some effect on people who aren't as ridiculous and desperate as you. So, you keep fighting the battles of the past, Fuzzy. The future is unwritten. And we're doing the composition.

David Duke isn't on the ballot, which means whoever gets elected can't possibly be worse than the incumbent. At this point, the Obama v. Hillary divisiveness is just throwing votes toward McCain. Ref. notforhillary above; it's not the first time I've heard proponents of either democratic candidate promise as much.

What happens now will have no impact on November. Seriously. 1) Voters have short memories - only partisans are truly committed to one candidate or another at this point - the huge middle is still flexible. 2) Any dirty Clinton and Obama throw at eachother right now will be "used up." Just like their short memories they get bored easily and don't want to keep hearing the same thing. 3) The economy is getting worse before it gets better. 4) Iraq is getting worse before it gets better. These are two VERY separate races

MiddleNameHussein - How is fighting in Iraq helping us defeat Al Qaeda? Its not. However pulling troops from Iraq and sending them to Afghanistan will. Just like Obama has proposed. Basic economics on the oil tax he proposes: It will be a windfall tax - any profit over a certain amount. Therefore they will be encouraged to keep profits UNDER that amount. The solution? They lower gas prices and still make a boat load of money, while avoiding a tax, and we get... lower gas prices. Your last two points simply don't make sense so I am not going to address them.

You have a point Fuzzy. I really can't give you any answers. The problem is, how am I supposed to vote for either of the other two candidates? Ms. Clinton has no real experience either plus she's apparently in bed with lobbyists and Washington insiders and is running a very negative campaign. At least McCain is so far running a clean, more positive campaign but he wants to continue the policies of George Bush which to me makes him unacceptable as the next president. Obama is the lesser of three evils. I believe considering the alternatives, a person with little experience who promises change is better than the 'same old story' which is what you would get with either Hilary or McCain.

While I am new here and don't wish to get on the bad side of anyone, I have seen posts from a lot of ya'll at other sites so I know something about your thinking. To me , Obamanites have become more of a cult than Jim Jones was. They overlook his entire past as if he just came from the Lords loins in 2000! He is a perfect angle, and anyone who tells the truth about him is a racist. In our local rag, "The State", an editorial appeared from an Obamanite that all but demanded that no matter what, either we would have a Black president or vice-president or the Blacks would declare war on America! What kind of mentality do these nuts have? Have they ever ventured out in Public, or do they confine themselves to all things Black? If Obama doesn't win this election, I would bet everything I have that we will see race riots all over America. No matter what, Obama supporters will never see the light, because they have a one tract mind, Obama,Obama,Obama.........America will never be the same after this election. And it won't be for the best. (I am a Ron Paul supporter) FREE TIBET

Great post, 1%er You know, I once saw a post on a blog where a McCain supporter said something that doesn't make sense. Therefore, logically, I can categorize all McCain supporters as not making sense. And btw, I've already bought my assault rifle and fortified my bunker in preparation for the race riots should Obama lose. (They might come in handy in the upcoming invasion of Muslims, anyway). And they wonder why I proudly am a 1%er.

Has anyone else been paying attention to white supremacists lately? Would you believe that many of them actually see Obama as a lesser evil than either McCain or Hillary? McCain is disliked mostly for his positions on immigration and his phony conservatism. In contrast, they see Obama as liberal, but at least he's honest about it, which isn't half as bad as a liberal who pretends to be conservative. Hillary's problem is two-fold. Being a WHITE liberal means that she's more likely to feel obligated to black special interests than Obama, the logic being that Obama's skin color makes him immune to that kind of pressure. Hillary is also a woman, and if there's anything more entrenched than racism among these folks, it's their misogyny.

Obama has no chance to win nationally. There are to many racists, more black than white, for this race to turn out in our nations best interests. Blacks are already talking about "re-taking our country" and the primary isn't even over. This election will go down in history as what caused to downfall of our once great country. Those of limited And it doesn't matter if Clinton or Obama wins. the others supporters will revolt. I pity whoever wins. They will be forced to fix the mess Bush has gotten us into. there will be ZERO money to do anything for years, unless we continue with the Bush policies of tax cuts and borrowing from Asia. None of Obama's feel good Changes will amount to zip if there is no money to pay for them. And he has quite a list of things he wants us tax payers to pay for, while still paying for the Bush years. That is what makes him seem like a Dreamer. He has yet to see how bad off we are with the current monetary policies. And he has offered nothing to fix the problem, other then spend more money. But yet, Clinton is in the boat with him in Dream Land. Lets see how stupid the average American is. At this point in the election, I would say that we have lost all claims to sanity. We as a nation have already lost.
