The funeral for the Tacony man shot dead on Valentine's Day allegedly by a neighbor in a dispute over dog droppings will be held tomorrow in the man's hometown of Yonkers, N.Y.

Franklin Manuel Santana, who would have turned 48 Saturday, was gunned down just after 4 p.m. Tuesday when he approached neighbor Tyrirk Harris, 27, and asked him to leash and curb his dogs, whose plentiful uncollected droppings were a well-known neighborhood nuisance. Harris was arrested on murder and gun charges; a preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 29.

Santana left behind his wife, Raquel Borges, 6-week-old daughter Roxxanne Santana and 14-year-old daughter Melissa Santana, in addition to many other relatives and friends.

His viewing and memorial service will be held 5 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the Yonkers Funeral Service, 107 Yonkers Ave., Yonkers, N.Y. 10701.

Santana's relatives, meanwhile, already have packed up Borges and her baby to leave their home on Torresdale Avenue near Magee - and Philadelphia altogether. Borges said she'll stay in New York until Wednesday, when she'll move to Miami to live with Santana's sister. Santana, Borges and their baby had lived in Philadelphia just a month when he was slain. Santana, who worked in construction remodeling homes, had relocated his family here from Miami in pursuit of job opportunities.

"I have nobody left there (Philly)," Borges said tonight. "There's no reason for me to stay, and I don't want to."

My condolences to this mans family. The mayor needs to issue a press release telling people to stay out of this god-forsaken, crime infested hell.

It breaks my heart for the family. Under any circumstances, losing a loved one like this would be a nightmare, but I can't imagine having just had a baby six weeks ago and having this happen. I wish that philly.com would let us know if donations can be directed somewhere.

Dave, why.. so that the same individuals doing this type of deed can move into your neighborhood? I can't believe "Tyrirk" was a former school policeman. What is this lunatic doing policing children?

It only costs a few cents to get scoopper bags and clean up after your pets----besides, it's the law in Philly and all dogs are supposed to be on leashes and walked, not left to run.

For my friends who believe in the death penalty, I say we give Tyrirk Harris the electric chair. For my friends against the death penalty, I say we put Harris in a special jail cell where the ceiling is cagelike, and dogs can defecate all over him.

I can only imagine what this gabage did to the neighborhood and all probably courtesy of HUD. They don't care who they inflict on others, hopefully his mate takes off wth the dogs. Then there should be a block party.

This is disgusting. I mean honestly, what is wrong with people?! This city makes me sick. What has happened to this country? It used to be a land where people came to find freedom: religious, social, economic and the list goes on. How can we be free if at every turn we have to constantly loook behind our own backs for fear of dying over something as pointless as this. When i first heard of this story i was furious. Its things like this that truly make me want to leave america and never look back.

I would have to agree with you. This is honestly the dumbest thing, to have someone killed over telling a man to pick up his dogs poop. Now those kids will have to grow up without their father. His wife has to raise those kids without a husband. How do you tell your kids that your dad was killed by a man because your dad asked him to control his dogs... How will they look at America then?
