Dozens of residents were evacuated because of a three-alarm fire in Frankford overnight.

The fire started around 2:45 a.m. in the back of the Trinidad Tire Center, 5034 Torresdale Ave.

Two nearby homes were destroyed, according to PhillyFireNews.com editor Skip Skipton, who was at the scene.

A shelter was set up at a nearby school, where 35 people, including 12 children, got food and blankets thanks to the Red Cross.

Only the residents of the two ruined homes were unable to return to their houses, according to the Red Cross.
