Dozens of residents were evacuated because of a three-alarm fire in Frankford overnight.

The fire started around 2:45 a.m. in the back of the Trinidad Tire Center, 5034 Torresdale Ave.

Two nearby homes were destroyed, according to PhillyFireNews.com editor Skip Skipton, who was at the scene.

A shelter was set up at a nearby school, where 35 people, including 12 children, got food and blankets thanks to the Red Cross.
