Cops: Man shot dog, bullet hit owner

A 64-year-old Chester man allegedly shot a dog he believed was threatening him and his wife, but the bullet passed through the animal’s neck and struck the hand of its owner, police told reporters over the weekend.

According to police, Charles Holland who reportedly walking his dogs near Rose and Upland Streets in Chester Park, along with his wife about 7:30 p.m., according to reports by NBC10 and The Delaware County Times.

Holland, who was licensed to carry a weapon, was also walking his own dogs when he encountered an English bulldog. Holland allegedly fired his weapon at the dog, which was unleashed.

Both the dog and its owner survived the shooting. Holland was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, according to court documents. Bail was set in Delaware County district court at $50,000.
