Bandit gets 10 years for 4 bank robberies

A serial bank bandit was sentenced today to 10 years in prison for committing four bank robberies.

Mark Labenz, 33, pleaded guilty in March to the Dec. 31, 2009 robbery of the Citizens Bank on the 2100 block of Cottman Avenue; the Dec. 19, 2013 robbery of the Republic Bank on the 800 block of Chestnut Street; the Dec. 23. 2013 robbery of the Prudential Savings Bank on the unit block of North 3rd Street, and the Jan. 3, 2014 robbery of the Wells Fargo Bank on the 300 block of South 2nd Street.

In addition to the prison term, Labenz was ordered to serve three years of supervised release and pay $5,889 in restitution.
