6 robberies in one week near Temple prompt warnings

Six robberies near the Temple University campus have prompted campus police to issue warnings and safety reminders to the university community.

The robberies, two of them at gun point, have all occurred west of Broad Street since Wednesday, Nov. 12 in an area heavily populated by students.

Police released details in two of the robberies. On Nov. 12, three students were walking east on 1700 block of Diamond Street about 11:10 p.m. when they were robbed by two males who then fled in a dark sedan east to Broad Street, police said.

On Nov. 16, a male non-student was on the 1600 block of W. Berks Street when he was approached by three men, two of them armed with handguns. The suspects fled north on 16th Street in a red sedan, police said. No one was injured in any of the robberies.

Temple police are working with the city police department to identify the suspects through surveillance footage. Anyone with information is asked to call Temple police at 215-204-1234.
