Mayor Nutter's Phillies tix available. Who wants them?

POSTED: Wednesday, October 22, 2008, 1:18 PM

Mayor Nutter is holding a drawing to distribute some of the cities World Series Phillies tickets. Six tickets are available for each series home game. See below for details.

UPDATE: The mayor's office has corrected the "erroneous" first version of its press release which limited the drawing to Philadelphia residents. The drawing is now open to everyone.

From the press release:

Today Mayor Michael A. Nutter announced a drawing for World Series tickets. Six tickets, awarded in pairs of two, will be given to watch each of the three home games.* Citizens can win the tickets by correctly answering the trivia question below and emailing the response to philliesticketraffle@gmail.com by noon on Friday, October 24th. Nine winners, for a total of 18 tickets, will be randomly selected from qualifying respondents.

“I know all Philadelphians share my excitement about the World Series and I want to give everyone a chance to watch the games with me,” said Mayor Nutter. “Head to your local library, send me an email with the correct answer, and come Saturday night you might be watching the game from the Mayor’s Box.”

Contest Rules:
Answer the following trivia question and place your response in the subject line of the email. In the body of the email, include your name, address and telephone number. Winners will be notified after noon on Friday, October 24th. City employees are ineligible for this drawing but are welcome to participate in a separate drawing open only to City workers.

Question:

WHAT IS THE MAIN INGREDIENT TO SHANE VICTORINO’S FAVORITE DISH?

*Game five will only occur if neither team wins the first four games.

Theres no question and this post doesnt make sense. "Citizens can win the tickets by correctly answering the trivia question below and emailing the response to philliesticketraffle@gmail.com by noon on Friday, October 24th." but a few sentences later shes says that winners will be notified on Thursday October 3rd. It doesnt make much sense Patricia!

Where is the question and why only Philadelphia residents? I live in Valley Forge and attend all Flyers games as I am a season ticket holder. There are many fans of Philly sports who do not live in the city.

DamiansMrs - my point exactly. There is always somebody who tries to drop hints or tells the answer the defeats the whole purpose of the trivia question.

If you can't find the question, and you don't know the answer, then you don't deserve to enter. I only skimmed this and found the answer, and as a Phillies fan, I definitely know the answer.

The answer was too easy. And as for why it's opened to Philly residents only? The stadium is in my city. The seats are in MY mayor's box. What about your high and mighty suburban mayors? They can't help you out.

There is not a suburb anywhere near that has their residents pay 4% City Wage tax, so that is the reason only Philly residents can play. To the ignorant people... Philadelphia is full of people from different races. Maybe you should explore the city a little bit instead of making your silly comments.

If you can't see the question, you are not qualified to participate. The contest is only open to Philadelphians because Michael Nutter is the mayor of Philadelphia, not Montgomery County. And that's not how you spell "genius," even though you had multiple tries at it.

The question is Why should Michael Nutter get a special box at Citizen's Bank Park? Its a disgrace. The taxpayers paid for this stadium. There should be no special perks for office holders who stole the money from us in the first place.

i think it is great that they are giving the tix away to the tax payers that are actually paying ofr the seats. Maybe they should do it all year since it isn't coming out of his pocket but ours

Why are they only available to Philly residents?? Because they are Mayor Nutter's tix and he can do whatever he wants with them! Plus I live in AZ I could answer the question and make some money off the tickets. I mean c'mon at least he is giving some fan a chance of a lifetime. Get off his back.

At KYW's web site the email link for the contest filled in the answer for you. I had already googled it and knew the answer but I didn't need to know.
