Victim has no cash, so robber assaults her

THE WOMAN had no money to give, but that didn't stop the robber who held her up at gunpoint in an Upper Darby alley about 8:30 p.m. Jan. 17.

THE WOMAN had no money to give, but that didn't stop the robber who held her up at gunpoint in an Upper Darby alley about 8:30 p.m. Jan. 17.

"You are going to give me something," he said, according to police reports.

With that, the robber took something far more precious than cash from the 19-year-old woman. He took her body.

Police said the attack happened in the rear alley of Wiltshire Road near Patterson Avenue. The victim was walking home from a friend's house when the suspect grabbed her from behind and took her behind a bush and performed various sex acts on her, and forced her to perform them on him, police said.

She made up lies to try to get him to stop, telling him she had a sexually transmitted disease, that she was 16 and that she was a student at Upper Darby High School. But nothing stopped him, said police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.

"This guy is an animal and we've got to get him off the street, plain and simple," Chitwood said.

The man let the woman walk away but told her not to turn around or he'd shoot her, Chitwood said. She ran home and called police, who took her to a hospital for evaluation.

Authorities released a composite sketch of the suspect, and police are asking the public to help identify him. He is described as black, in his late teens, with eyes that are close together and a nose that is unusually long and large. Anyone with information is urged to call Upper Darby police at 610-734-7684.
