Police seek suspects, motives in 6 cases of weekend violence

Three men were killed, two were critically injured and a husband and wife were the victims of a sadistic home invasion over the weekend in Philadelphia.

Three men were killed, two were critically injured and a husband and wife were the victims of a sadistic home invasion over the weekend in Philadelphia.

The couple were returning to their Juniata Park home, on Palmetto Street near Hunting Park Avenue, about 2:30 a.m. Saturday when they were met by two men who forced them inside their residence at gunpoint, a Special Victims Unit supervisor said.

The man and the woman were both restrained with duct tape by their attackers and taken to separate rooms, according to police.

One of the gunmen then raped the 41-year-old wife, the SVU supervisor said.

The attackers robbed the couple of $1,000 in cash, a Sony PlayStation and other items before fleeing on foot after about an hour, police said.

The couple called police at 3:36 a.m. The wife was treated at Episcopal Hospital and released, police said.

The husband suffered a laceration above his left eye.

Police said that the couple did not know their attackers. The first was described as a 5 feet 11, 165 pounds, light-complexioned Hispanic male, and the second was described only as a Hispanic male about 5 feet 9. Both men wore dark clothing and masks on the lower part of their faces, the SVU supervisor said.
