Police are looking for a man with an Eagles tattoo on his back after he allegedly assaulted an off-duty cop while tailgating at the Phillies' home opener on Sunday.

The incident began around 6 p.m. when the man, who believed that a group of tailgaters had thrown a bottle or cup at his car, got out of his car to confront his beverage-wielding assailants, police spokesman Lt. Frank Vanore said.

A fight allegedly ensued between the man and the group, and when an off-duty Camden police officer went to intervene, he was struck in the face by the tattooed sports fan, Vanore said.

The man has blond hair and a tattoo of the Eagles' team logo on his back and may have been driving a 2000 white Honda, police said.

The off-duty officer, who fell to the ground after being hit, suffered cuts and bruises to his face, Vanore said. He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was treated and released. *
