MLB: Game 5 will resume tomorrow night

Game 5 will not resume tonight, due to inclement weather, according to Major League Baseball.

Instead, the final innings have been scheduled to begin at 8:37 tomorrow night, weather permitting.

Fans who attended last night's game will need their tickets to gain admittance.

Games 6 and 7, if necessary, have been tentatively rescheduled to be played in Florida on Thursday and Friday nights, according to baseball spokesman Pat Courtney.

Last night's game was suspended after 5-1/2 innings with the Phillies and the Tampa Bay Rays tied 2-2.

It was the first suspension ever of a World Series game.

The Phillies lead the best-of-seven series, 3-1, and a win would give Philadelphia its first championship in one of the four major sports in 25 years.

The forecast for this evening was worrisome, with light rain, gusty winds and temperatures around 40.

Some snow even started falling at Northeast Philadelphia Airport this morning.

Tomorrow night looks chilly, but without any worries about rain or wind, according to the National Weather Service.

"While obviously we want to finish Game Five as soon as possible, the forecast for today does not allow for us to continue the game this evening," baseball commissioner Bud Selig stated in a news release.

"We are closely monitoring tomorrow's forecast and will continue to monitor the weather on an hourly basis. We will advise fans as soon as we are able to make any final decisions with respect to tomorrow's schedule."

When the game ended, Phillies ace Cole Hamels had just completed his sixth inning. Although the team said he probably wouldn't have returned tonight, fans wonder if an extra day's rest could make a difference.

Phillies manager Charlie Manuel was scheduled to speak with reporters during a 3 p.m. conference call.

Rays manager Joe Maddon was to speak to the media at 2 p.m. Among the likely topics: How, because of the postponements, the Rays had to find accommodations in Delaware.
