The boy was listed in critical but stable condition last night at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children, said Detective Joann Wojnicki of Central Detectives.
The driver, 18, and another passenger, 19, were treated at Albert Einstein Medical Center and released, police said. Authorities did not identify the victims.
The trio, who are not related to one another, had been at the Samba Nightclub on Girard Avenue near 7th Street early yesterday morning, Wojnicki said.
Their vehicle was headed north on Broad Street near Master when shots were fired at them from a blue Buick LeSabre with five occupants that approached the minivan, she said.
The driver, who was grazed on the forehead, rushed the vehicle to Einstein. Once there, the 12-year-old was stabilized and then taken to St. Christopher's.
The other passenger was struck in the back by two bullets.
The shooter was described as a 19-to-21-year-old black man with a dark complexion and a muscular build, weighing 150 to 170 pounds and wearing a tan hooded sweatshirt and a black T-shirt.
Police said that arrest warrants in the case were forthcoming.
