Boy, 17, critical after being shot in eye

Police were investigating the shooting of a teenager last night in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, authorities said.

The victim, described by police as a 17-year-old Hispanic male, was found - shot through one of his eyes - at 9:23 p.m. in the 3400 block of Jasper Street near Allegheny Avenue. He was taken in critical condition to Temple University Hospital, where he was unresponsive.

Police declined to release the victim's identity until his family could be summoned to the hospital.
