Police probe Chester slaying

Chester police were investigating the Friday night murder of Melvin Rasheed Barrett, 27, who was found dead in the entryway of a home in the 700 block of West Fifth Street shortly after 11 p.m.

Alerted by a report of a burglary in process, police said they found the front storm door shattered and several shell casings nearby.

Barrett, whose home address was not reported, was taken to the Delaware County medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
