Funeral services prompt road closures

A viewing for Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a funeral Mass following at noon at the Cathedral Basilica of Ss. Peter and Paul, 18th Street and Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 5201 Hulmeville Road, Bensalem.

At 11:50 a.m., Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey will offer words of remembrance. The celebrant and homilist is Most Reverend Joseph P. McFadden, auxiliary bishop of Philadelphia. Cardinal Justin Rigali won't be present because he is in Rome. McFadden will deliver condolences from Rigali. Viewing, services and burial are open to the public.

At about 1:30 p.m., the funeral cortege will proceed to Resurrection Cemetery, necessitating the following road closures:

* Vine Street will be closed from Logan Circle to the Interstate 676 entrance at Broad Street.

* I-676 will be closed eastbound from I-76 to I-95.

* I-95 northbound will be closed from I-676 to make way for the funeral procession going to Bensalem.

Detours will allow for exits at Washington Avenue and I-676 West. The I-676 westbound exit at Broad Street will be closed for the cortege. *
